Full Flow Oil Filter Conversion

Background

The purpose of this modification is to convert the oil filtering system on the 1955-56 Packard V-8 from bypass type (partial) filter to full flow (100%) filter.

The engine must be removed from the vehicle and completely disassembled. Any other machine work may be done before or after these modifications. The final installation of the filter conversion must be done after all machine work and cleaning is accomplished.

The original Packard V-8 oil/vacuum pump, associated vacuum lines and bypass filter with plumbing is removed and not used. Therefore, the vacuum wiper should be replaced with an electric one. The oil pump is replaced with the Oldsmobile 455 High Volume oil pump using the oil pump adapter kit developed by members of the Packard V-8 Club.
